Horsemanship is the one art for which it seems one needs only practice. However, practice without true principles is nothing other than routine, the fruit of which is a strained and unsure execution, a false
diamond which dazzles semi-connoisseurs often more impressed by the accomplishments of the horse than the merit of the horseman.
~Francois Robichon de la Gueriniere

Hei!

STRAM MAGEN!

We must live for the school. Offer our lives to it. Then, perhaps, little by little, the light will grow from the tiny candle we keep lit here, and the great art—of the haute école—will not be snuffed out. -Alois Podhajsky

Seemingly, we love our scientific precision so much that we allow any means to produce a mistake-free horse.

Sprangridning er bare dressur med fartshumper.

Long ago, Guèriniére warned his contemporaries about the danger of imitation without true understanding. However, at no time in history has unknowledgeable imitation been more of a danger than now, at the beginning of this twenty-first century. The world is completely connected. Information passes instantly. For instance videos and other technology make trainers and riders around the world accessible to each other. Trends get started and these can be manipulated and marketed so that, within months, there is global participation. In the past it would have been too difficult to get such a united message or to reach such a large audience. The isolated pockets of classical horsemen an horsewomen will have to find a way to stay alive and independant of the grand multinational promotions, where the message is always quick and easy, aimed at the ego and entertainment of the human individual, not the the heart and soul of the horse. In this time of ultra-connections, we need to celebrate humanity's connections with Nature, and not humans' connections with themselves.

Lettredne hester treffer man sjelden på, like sjelden som virkelig gode ryttere.

Dressage involves thorough gymnastic training and careful education of the horse, it is aimed at developing its natural talents to the full, improving its performance, maintaining its health and soundness and, finally, achieving harmony between rider and horse.

Dressage riding must never be confused with the training of tricks.

Too many riders get obsessed with their feelings and goals instead of feeling the horse
